Be Super on Super Bowl

Super bowl Sunday is 12 days away, and it's time to start planning your upcoming gathering.

Super Bowl is to guys what New Years Eve is to girls. It's a big night, and you want to make sure if you're hosting this years Super Bowl party for family and friends, that it's... well... Super. Super Bowl parties can be a big hit, or the biggest fail - here are a four easy tips when hosting your next Super Bowl Party to make sure it isn't the latter.

Super Bowl is about the game.

We've been to too many gatherings where sometimes as hosts we forget the most important part, the actual football game. Make sure you have a TV with space where several people can watch, which may mean temporarily rearranging the furniture.

This is your party, too.

Make sure when planning this party, you think of easy food items and low-maintenance games and activities. There's nothing worse than hosting a get-together that you can't enjoy because you're running around all over the place.

Let your guests help.

A sure-fire way to make sure the item above is followed, is to let your guests help. We aren't saying to tell them to bring their own chairs, but if you make it a pot-luck style gathering you don't have as much 'on your plate' and they know there will be food items they are sure to like. (This also helps if you have picky eaters or friends with dietary restrictions)

Snacks.

Most Super Bowl events last longer than your typical Sunday Night dinner. The key to a successful party is having snacks that folks can munch on throughout the night, without too much work on your end. Remember, easy is the name of the game so chips, pretzels, mixed nuts or room-temperature items are a good go-to.

R E C I P E | Boucan Dip

8 oz cream cheese

1 bunch, green onion (chopped)

1 package of bacon, cooked (chopped)

1/2 cup of mayo

Shredded Cheddar Cheese

1 box of ritz crackers

1 bottle of Captain Rodney's Boucan Dip (or any sweet pepper jelly will do)

mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, mayo, green onions, one sleeve of crackers and chopped bacon together. Put the mixture into a greased baking dish, and bake until bubbly on 350 degrees. Once bubbly, crunch up one sleeve of Ritz crackers and cover the top - bake again until crackers are golden brown. Remove from the oven, and drizzle with Boucan Dip (or pepper jelly) - use additional Ritz crackers to dip!

{I am not a green onion fan, so I leave these out - but add them in for a little more flavor if you want!}

Party on, Wayne
